Drumline (review)

Drumline

Author: Stacy Kestwick

Genre: NA college romance

Publication Date: September 5th 2017

Rating: 3.5 🌟

Traditions are important. Especially in the South.
College football. Rivalries. Tailgating. Halftime shows.
Some things just don’t change.
Until Reese Holland shows up with her long legs and no-bullshit attitude to audition for the prestigious all-male Rodner University snare line.
It doesn’t matter how much hazing she has to endure from Laird Bronson, with his narrowed green eyes and arrogant smirk. She wants that damn spot, and she’s more than good enough to earn it.
She expects there to be tension. Even friction.
But not sparks hot enough to burn the entire campus down.

Review:

Overall Drumline was a good, entertaining reading, that came in a very good time in my life (I’ve been stuck without finding a passionate read).

I’d catalogue this book as an easy-read-for-a-weekend or a read-after-book-hangover. I like the story and the characters in general but it was too fast paced for me and I would have liked a bit more of drama.

The heroine is a strong woman, having gone through hard moments in her childhood (you’ll have to read it if you want to know). Her passion and independence are something I loved, how she fights for what she wants and doesn’t let anyone get in the way. I admire when female characters are written that way, it’s inspiring.

The hero is brave, courageous and a touch nerdy. Having live own drama a few years back, he has had to grow up faster, but that just adds to the character. He’s also hot and I’ve always had a thing for drummers.

Both connected since the beginning, with a fight of the sexes. Their chemistry is extreme. The connection as a couple gets behind, I think there should have been more personal talk, to know the small details about someone.

On the whole, Drumline is a book I would recommend as an easy read for a weekend.

P.S: when she swears is really funny, they keep growing longer and funnier.

P.P.S: Batman is mentioned a lot (that’s a perk)

Bhaltair.

Author Bio:

Cambria Hebert is an award winning, bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.

Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).

Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: The Hashtag Series, Text, Torch, and Tattoo.

Cambria Hebert owns and operates Cambria Hebert Books, LLC.
