“Cry Baby is brilliantly written. It’s hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking and will leave you thinking about it for days afterward. Bravo, Ms. Scott. This boy-man stole my heart and I don’t want it back.”- L.J. Shen, Bestselling Author

Blurb:

Tristan Lopez is loyal to his brothers. He doesn’t really have a choice, born into a gang that has a chokehold on every kid that roams its streets. He gave his life to them willingly, knowing if he did then one day this kingdom, led by boys drunk with power and ruled by fear, would all be his.
He was loyal through it all. Loyal when prison took his dad away. Loyal when his face was touched by the cold metal of the rival gang’s gun. Loyal even though his mom begged him to run the moment she returned home from rehab.
He thought about becoming someone else. It was hard not to crave the life of a regular 17-year-old. It’s the only reason he stayed in school—to pretend. But he always fell back in line.
Loyal.
Riley Rojas didn’t belong in Tristan’s real world. She should have only been part of the fantasy, one of the many faces he got to pretend with amidst rows of metal chairs and desks and whiteboards with assignments. But there she was, moving boxes from the back of an old pick-up into a house Tristan had shot up on a dare with his friends only a few months before.
Tall enough to look him in the eyes and strong enough to fill his shadow, Riley took up space on his streets, her loud mouth fearless in the face of the gang leaders who terrified everyone else. She pushed Tristan around on the hard court, and she balled better than his friends—better than him
sometimes. She challenged him. She needed him. He liked it. And when her pale blue eyes stared into his, he quit wanting to pretend.
He couldn’t ask her to leave because she’d only dig her heels in deeper. He couldn’t ask because he didn’t want her to go. She was blurring his lines. She was testing his loyalty.
He was falling in love.
And it was going to tear him apart.

4 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I’m always waiting for her books, they never disappoint. Since I first read How We Deal With Gravity I was hooked in her way of writing.
Cry Baby is just one of her masterpieces. The message and the topics are on point right now. The main characters have great chemistry and I really liked their personalities.
Riley is so headstrong, independent and fierce, you just end up loving her when you get to see her soft, sensible side.
Tristan is just too cute. He follows his own ideals and is very loyal to them, that something admirable in someone and that I value.
Like in the rest of Ginger Scott’s books there’s more to the story than just the relationship between the main characters. I admire her braveness to write about these topics and how she is able to accomplish it in a real way. I feel this could actually happen.
Also, how young people is represented, their personalities, how they behave is how I feel it should be. They’re almost adults and their way of thinking is in constant change, however their values and loyalty are always the same, that’s admirable, it takes real courage.
So go read it NOW.

A sucker for a good romance, Ginger’s other passion is sports, and she often blends the two in her stories. She has told the stories of Olympians, politicians, actors, scientists, cowboys, criminals and towns. For more on her and her work, visit her website at http://www.littlemisswrite.com.

When she’s not writing, the odds are high that she’s somewhere near a baseball diamond, either watching her son field pop flies like Bryce Harper or cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ginger lives in Arizona and is married to her college sweetheart whom she met at ASU (fork ’em, Devils).

Memphis (Review)

Ginger Scott released a new book this past 23rd Memphis.

Blurb:

My mom always said it was just something about the way he moved.

The same swagger Archie Valentine wore in the ring when he took his opponents

down followed him like a halo everywhere he went. But make no mistake about it—

he was no angel. He was like a drug. My mother was his addict.

I never understood it…how love could make you blind and convince you to drink the

poison. Not until I met Memphis Delaney.

At first, it was the familiar form. He’s a fighter, built like a god from the past, the kind

of man the universe doesn’t make anymore. His eyes hide a story, and every time I’m

in his presence I want to keep reading him until I get to the end. And then…there’s

the way he moves. His boxing is violent but beautiful, and his body is a seductive

weapon. When he’s in the ring, he wears the stare of a man committed to the battle

until his very last breath.

He could end me; turn me into her. Too much of him will leave me as a shadow, and

I’ve lost so much of myself already.

But I have discipline. It came the hard way. Lessons learned, scars left behind, and

trust stripped away from life.

I will breathe his air, but I won’t fall for a man like him. The only boxer who’s ever

going to break my heart is the one who gave me my name.

4 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Memphis is the story of Liv and Memphis. Two people with family issues that find a home in the other one.

If you’ve read any other Ginger Scott book you know she writes powerful characters with personal issues and complicated lives.

Memphis is pure heart, this boy is just looking to belong.

Liv just wants to survive enough to run away and be someplace else.

Together they find what they were looking for and more, but life always gets in the way.

The chemistry between them is so godo and they compliment each other really well since the first time they met.

Overall, I liked this book and its main characters. A story about surviving, living and becoming someone, but above it all is about finding your HOME.

It’s not The Hard Count (one of my favorite books of all times) but it’s pretty good, like most of the books written by this author.
