Two Wedding Crashers (cover reveal)

Book 2 in the series by numbers by Meghan Quinn

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Memphis (Review)

Ginger Scott released a new book this past 23rd Memphis.

My mom always said it was just something about the way he moved.

The same swagger Archie Valentine wore in the ring when he took his opponents

down followed him like a halo everywhere he went. But make no mistake about it—

he was no angel. He was like a drug. My mother was his addict.

I never understood it…how love could make you blind and convince you to drink the

poison. Not until I met Memphis Delaney.

At first, it was the familiar form. He’s a fighter, built like a god from the past, the kind

of man the universe doesn’t make anymore. His eyes hide a story, and every time I’m

in his presence I want to keep reading him until I get to the end. And then…there’s

the way he moves. His boxing is violent but beautiful, and his body is a seductive

weapon. When he’s in the ring, he wears the stare of a man committed to the battle

until his very last breath.

He could end me; turn me into her. Too much of him will leave me as a shadow, and

I’ve lost so much of myself already.

But I have discipline. It came the hard way. Lessons learned, scars left behind, and

trust stripped away from life.

I will breathe his air, but I won’t fall for a man like him. The only boxer who’s ever

going to break my heart is the one who gave me my name.

Review :

4 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Memphis is the story of Liv and Memphis. Two people with family issues that find a home in the other one.

If you’ve read any other Ginger Scott book you know she writes powerful characters with personal issues and complicated lives.

Memphis is pure heart, this boy is just looking to belong.

Liv just wants to survive enough to run away and be someplace else.

Together they find what they were looking for and more, but life always gets in the way.

The chemistry between them is so godo and they compliment each other really well since the first time they met.

Overall, I liked this book and its main characters. A story about surviving, living and becoming someone, but above it all is about finding your HOME.

It’s not The Hard Count (one of my favorite books of all times) but it’s pretty good, like most of the books written by this author.

Ginger Scott is an Amazon-bestselling and Goodreads Choice Award-nominated

author of several young and new adult romances, including Waiting on the Sidelines,

Going Long, Blindness, How We Deal With Gravity, This Is Falling, You and

Everything After, The Girl I Was Before, Wild Reckless, Wicked Restless, In Your

Dreams, The Hard Count, Hold My Breath, A Boy Like You and A Girl Like Me.

A sucker for a good romance, Ginger’s other passion is sports, and she often blends

the two in her stories. (She’s also a sucker for a hot quarterback, catcher, pitcher,

point guard…the list goes on.) Ginger has been writing and editing for newspapers,

magazines and blogs for more than 15 years. She has told the stories of Olympians,

politicians, actors, scientists, cowboys, criminals and towns. For more on her and

her work, visit her website at http://www.littlemisswrite.com.

When she’s not writing, the odds are high that she’s somewhere near a baseball

diamond, either watching her son field pop flies like Bryce Harper or cheering on

her favorite baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ginger lives in Arizona and is

married to her college sweetheart whom she met at ASU (fork ’em, Devils).

Baby On The Bad Boy’s Doorstep (Book Blitz)

Baby on the Bad Boy’s Doorstep
Victoria James
Published by: Entangled Bliss
Publication date: February 12th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Connor O’Leary knows nothing about babies, families, or good women, yet he’s up to his ears in all three. Coming to Shadow Creek, Montana was meant to be a new start for this former oil rigger, but he had no idea that fresh beginning would include a baby on his doorstep and a hot nanny he can’t stop thinking about. Diapers, feedings, and late nights soothing his little bundle of surprise were definitely not on his itinerary.

The last thing Haley Thomson expected to see is the reclusive Connor with a baby in his arms. Before she knows it, she’s volunteered as nanny—temporarily. Helping out with baby Rosie is a dream come true and fills a space in her heart she believed will never be filled. But falling for Rosie’s hot and sexy bachelor daddy is not on her to-do list…but boy would she ever like it to be…

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

She stopped crying and opened her eyes, and he swore to God in that moment, when her large blue eyes latched onto his, when he felt a jolt of recognition run through his body, that this was his kid.

Except she was scarier than him, especially as her mouth opened wider and she let out a roar that would scare the crap out of a bear. What the hell was he going to do? Jack. Jack knew about babies—he had two.

He grabbed his phone and called his friend. “Yeah?”

“I have a situation,” he managed to choke out.

“Take a cab.”

“No, you idiot, I’m not wasted, I’m at home. You need to get over here. Now.”

He heard grumbling, muttering, and then finally, “Be there in ten.”

“Wait. Bring baby things.”

“Baby things. Like, whatever a baby would need to, you know…live.”

“Oh man, this is starting to sound really bad.”

He hung up the phone and looked down at the baby. His daughter. Or Tess Junior, as the name on the birth certificate stated. He was going to have to change that when he applied for paternity. If he applied. If she was his.

Hostage Book Blitz

Annika Martin & Skye Warren
Publication date: January 30th 2018
Genres: New Adult, Romance

I’d never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning.

He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. “Drive,” he tells me, and I have no choice. He’s a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.

The police say he’s dangerously obsessed with me, but I’m the one who can’t stop thinking about him. Maybe it’s wrong to let him touch me. Maybe it’s wrong to touch him back. Maybe these twisted dates need to stop. Except he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions.

So I drive us under threat, until it’s hard to remember I don’t want to be there.

Until it’s too late to turn back.

HOSTAGE is a dangerous standalone romance by New York Times bestselling authors Skye Warren and Annika Martin. It’s set in the same world as PRISONER, but can read separately!

Goodreads / iBooks

A calm comes over me. “Are you going to kill me, too?”

“So far, you haven’t shown you can follow orders very well, have you?”

“I won’t tell on you,” I blurt out.

He snorts.

We’re heading west, out of the city. The party seems like a million years ago. They’ll be sitting down for dinner now. Wondering where I am. Will they think I left?

The man’s face is in shadows. Streetlamps flash over his face as the van moves along, revealing a nose carved out of granite and a strong jaw. I wouldn’t call him handsome. He’s too rough-hewn for that, like someone forgot to sand over the angles.

“Be quiet.” His soft menace is directed at me this time. I shrink in my seat.

We’re going into a run-down suburb, Westdale or Ferndale or something, a place with a lot of little tiny box homes. It’s a place I never go. We wind through the streets, deeper and deeper.

It’s hard to even look at him. That means acknowledging what’s happening to me. This is real. I may never make it out of this alive. That’s what I think when I turn my head to the side, glance at him from beneath low lashes. Which makes his gray Henley and dark-wash jeans seem way too ordinary. If this were the day I was going to die, wouldn’t he be wearing something more dramatic?

But that’s just wishful thinking from my panicked mind. He can hurt me wearing anything. I’m so deep in danger it’s hard to breathe.

He slows on a far block and turns. The van headlights hit overgrown weeds and the charred remains of a house. The place burned at one time, long ago.

He circles around and goes into the alley behind it. He shoves it into park and does something to the wires that make it shut off. He turns to me. “I’m gonna get out and deal with this guy. If you move out of this seat, I’ll kill you. And if, by some miracle, you manage to get away, I’m going to kill everybody you called on this phone in the last month. Can you guess how? I’ll give you a hint. A meat hook is involved.”

I suck in a breath. He doesn’t bother to wait for my answer. He gets out, yanks open the back door, and drags the man out—I can tell by the thuds. More punching sounds come from behind the van. The groans and garbled pleas sound worse and worse.

I huddle in my seat, listening to a man get beaten to death.

Bile rises up in my throat. I have only a few seconds to decide what to do—throw up in the van or throw up outside. He’s told me not to leave. He’s threatened my life, threatened to snap my neck. But I have an entire lifetime of my mother’s voice in my head. I have sixteen years of decorum forcing me to fumble for the door handle and push my way out.

I make it two feet away before dropping to my hands and knees and throwing up in the weeds behind the place. For all I know, he’ll kill me for this. For all I know, he’d have killed me for doing this in the van. He’s insane.

There’s not much that lands on the ground. A bottle of smartwater and some strawberries don’t leave a lot to vomit, but my stomach still heaves again and again until I’m sore, until I’m choking on bile, wrung dry.

I sit back on my feet, wiping my face, panting, one hand on the rough concrete, head down. The sounds back there have changed. There’s this grunting and a grinding sound, then a crack. It makes me want to throw up all over again.

If he’s going to kill me, I’d rather not see it coming. I guess I hope he does it fast. That’s what they always say in movies.

I hear a thump in the back of the van and then the sound of the door shutting. Footsteps coming toward me.

I force my breathing to slow. He’s behind me. I stay still.

“You’ve never seen shit like this, have you?” he asks, his voice almost conversational.

It makes me shiver, how he can sound so normal after killing a man.

My voice is low. “No.”

“You’ve only seen—what? Parties? Fancy shit?”

There’s judgment in his voice and something else. Curiosity? I can use that. I have to use that, because it’s the only tool I have. I sit back on my knees, brushing my hands against each other to wipe off the gravel. My white and pink dress is stained with blood and dirt. My cell phone is in his pocket. If I want to survive this, I need to persuade him to let me go.

“Parties,” I force myself to say in agreement. Make him see you as a person. “Tonight was my birthday party.”

He doesn’t say anything.

I look up at him. His face is cast in shadows by the moon. Demonic. Unforgiving. I wonder how I look to him, down on the ground in a dirty alley.

“Please just let me go back there,” I whisper. “Nobody has to know.”

He lowers to his haunches and brushes a strand of slick hair from my face. His thumb lingers on my cheek, brushing over my skin. “You’re right,” he says, voice musing. “No one saw me take you. No one even knew I was there. No one has to know.”

“What does that mean?” I whisper.

He stands, sucking in a ragged breath. My heart pounds as his eyes move over me.

I’ve never felt so helpless, so alone. I’m a sacrifice, kneeling at the feet of a beautiful, brutal demon.

When Drix was convicted of a crime–one he didn’t commit–he thought his life was over. But opportunity came with the Second Chance Program, the governor’s newest pet project to get delinquents off the streets, rehabilitated and back into society. As the governor’s daughter, she can open doors with her name alone. But the expectations and pressure to be someone she isn’t may be too much to handle. She wants to follow her own path, whatever that means. When Drix and Elle meet, their connection is immediate, but so are their problems. Drix is not the type of boy Elle’s parents have in mind for her, and Elle is not the kind of girl who can understand Drix’s messy life. But sometimes love can breach all barriers. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Say You’ll Remember Me is the next book of Katie McGarry. I’ve known this author from her Pushing The Limits series and Thunder Road series.

Overall impression: magnificent book, it’s going to be on my Top 10 of the year.
When I started reading the first chapter I got hooked. This book is about more than just a love story between two teens with complicated lives. The amount of topics dealt could have been overwhelming and make the reader get lost but Katie McGarry did a perfect job, explaining and describing what needed and leaving open windows, basically what happens in real life. Some of those topics are: crime, politics, abuse, drugs, family, poverty, love, etc. I’m in awe with her work.
About the characters, there are a lot that I’d like to mention so I’m going to make a list and comment a bit:
Hendrix: male main character, prime example of how a teenager that grew in a bad environment and made mistakes had a second chance in life and become one of the best YA lead roles I’ve read about.
Ellison: what I thought would be a vulnerable, timid girl with 0 knowledge of the world turn out to be a strong, intelligent, courageous girl with so much to learn but with will-power to do whatever she wants.
Axle: how a big brother should behave.
Holiday: life has been harsh with her but she has to grow up a lot (a bit argh at times).
Dominic: at first I didn’t know what to think about him, but he would take a seat in your heart and never leave it.
Kellen: adorable, and more than meet the eye.
Elle’s parents: ‘too perfect’ you can see they truly love their daughter but they are so overprotective. Also, they are a good example of politics and how it’s more important their exterior than what they’re saying.

Henry: good support for Elle, he shows her a different reality.

The entire crew was a perfect assemble that make the book stand as one of my favorites for this year (and it’s just starting) but the way this woman can write about 17 and 18 year-olds it’s amazing.
I love when young people are shown with their flaws and virtues, when they are and behave like real teenagers. From their everyday problems to what are they going to do with their lives and most importantly (and a question everyone should have in different stages of life) Who Am I? Because it’s okay if you don’t know who you are at 18. It’s okay to make mistakes (not crimes) and fail because we are imperfect and should be granted a second, third and even fourth chance.
To sum up (because this review is way too long), Say You’ll Remember Me is a must read this year, totally recommended.
Ps.: I hope and wish that this becomes a series because I need Dominic, Axle, Holiday, Kellen and Marcus to tell their own story.

The Year We Hid Away (Review)

The Year We Hid Away (The Ivy Years #2)

Sarina Bowen

Publication date: June 1st 2014

Genres: new adult, romance, college sport

She’s hiding something big. He’s hiding someone small.

Scarlet Crowley’s life was torn apart the day father was arrested for unspeakable crimes. Now the shock has worn off, but not the horror.

It’s a safe bet that Scarlet is the only first year at Harkness College who had to sneak past TV news trucks parked on her front lawn just to leave town. But college will be Scarlet’s fresh start. Clutching a shiny new student ID — with a newly minted name on it — she leaves it all behind. Even if it means lying to the boy she’s falling for.

Bridger McCaulley is a varsity hockey star known for being a player both on and off the ice. But a sobering family crisis takes that all away. Protecting his sister means a precarious living arrangement and constant deception. The only bright spot in his week is the few stolen hours he spends with Scarlet.

The two form a tentative relationship based on the understanding that some things must always be held back. But when grim developments threaten them both, going it alone just won’t work anymore. And if they can’t learn to trust one another now, the families who let them down will take everything they’ve struggled to keep.

3.5 🌟 🌟 🌟

First read of 2018, it fell into my hands January 1st. I knew this author from her books with Elle Kennedy (Him/Us, WAGs). The Year We Hid Away is the 2nd book in the series, even though I haven’t read the first one I didn’t miss anything. I’m going to divide my review in two:

Romance: both of them share a couple of classes and start going to the library. It’s a very ‘normal or common’ beginning for a relationship. The development it’s a bit fast but with their lives taking over it was to be expected. No big problems about love and relationships.

Drama: way too much. It was the reason I spent half a night reading. Each of them has really serious problems. The book deals with many big topics (Rape, foster care, drugs, death, etc. I don’t want to make spoilers) in just 272 pages.

The main characters are very similar: strong, selfless, don’t like asking for help, with their head over their shoulders.

To sum up, good story that gets lost behind all that drama. I recommend this author, even though this wasn’t one of my favorites Him/Us are such good books and the WAGs series too.

A serial killer…

A past that haunts no matter how much the distance…

Which one will strike first?

Eighteen deaths over eight years has left Shane Peters itching to find his mark. The death that started it all ensured his obsession with the murderer who had turned his life into a living hell, leaving him to raise a newborn daughter on his own.

Starting over wasn’t the easiest thing, but Emberlyn Roth had managed by shear grit and the skin of her teeth. It’s too bad one can’t outrun their past.

A protector of the wronged, Shane is torn between his duty as a detective for the Jacksonville PD and a quest to find himself some peace. Red tape binds his capabilities and moonlighting as an investigator for Nightshade Securities has him feeling stretched thin. Late nights on the streets and his sense of duty keeps him from being the father he wants to be. Throw onto his already rickety house of cards, an attraction to the mysterious Emberlyn, the lead he’s got on the murderer he’s been hunting for nearly a decade, and threats his woman is receiving by an unsavory character from her past, and he’s seriously tempted to take Dalton Kipper’s offer to join his team in a permanent basis.

Rules have a place, but when you’re faced with losing the one that means most to you, lines can become blurred. With the fate of his family’s future hanging in the balance, he’s ready to risk it all.
