Surviving Adam Meade by Shannon Klare Review

Surviving Adam Meade

(Surviving Adam Meade, #1)
Published by: Swoon Reads
Publication date: August 14th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Seventeen-year-old Claire Collins has a plan: get into college and leave North Carolina behind. What she doesn’t have is an idea for how to get rid of the local football star and womanizer extraordinaire—Adam Meade, who she can’t even avoid (despite many efforts), because Claire’s dad is the high school football coach.

Seventeen-year-old Adam Meade never fails. He always gets what he wants… until he meets Claire, the new girl who leaves him unnerved, pissed off, and confused. But there’s something about her that he just can’t resist…

With the bite of lemon meringue pie and the sugar of sweet tea, Surviving Adam Meade is a sexy and compelling young adult novel about two strong-willed people who think they know what they want but have no idea what they need.

Review

4 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Surviving Adam Meade is an enemies to lovers story. Claire is forced to change high schools her senior year, starting in a new school leaving behind her entire life. Also, she’s coach’s daughter what leads her to meet Adam. Quarterback, heartbreaker and a bit of an asshole.

Their chemistry is clear, they both prank and attack verbally each other (the use of sarcasm is so good, I loved it). They realised they like each other but are afraid of their future together.

The first part of the book, all the banter and bickering is, for me, the best part of the book. Although it loses its force when they start dating. I expected it to be more passionate. Also, the jumps between scenes inside chapters are to fast. One paragraph you have Claire in class and the next she’s at home, without making a big separation between them. It was weird for me while reading.

Overall, I truly liked it. Both main characters are funny and sort of real-life related. Perfect read for summer.

Author Bio:

Shannon Klare is a southern housewife, born and raised in Texas. When she isn’t writing or daydreaming new plots, Shannon is a reality TV fanatic and movie connoisseur. Surviving Adam Meade is her debut novel.

How To Breathe Underwater by Vicky Steiner Review

How to Breathe Underwater

Review

3.75 🌟 🌟 🌟 💫

How To Breathe Underwater tells the story of Kate. It starts with a boom, her father is cheating on her mother and she finds out in the middle of a swimming practice. Her life changes drastically, she has to move to a different city and start again. That’s when she meets Michael, her neighbor and they develop a friendship.

Kate has mixed feelings about everything that’s happening, thinking about every decision she has made. She’s learning to be herself and that’s very authentic and I like when characters are realistic.

The chemistry is easy and fast between Michael and her, they connect like they’ve known each other their whole lives.

The book in itself is good, I’d consider it a fall reading, so perfect for the months ahead, but the drama was easy to spot since the beginning (for myself). I saw what was going to happen when I read the first chapters so later when it happened I wasn’t very surprised. However, you read about a teenager growing up faster than she should be and making mistakes.

I recommend it for those who like to read young adult and romance.

Author Bio:

Born and raised in Texas, I don’t act like much of a Texan. I like cold weather and hate country music. I have a gorgeous husband, two dogs, and a Literature degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. If I’m not at home reading a book or doing laundry, I’m probably at the bookstore, nannying three rambunctious boys, or stuck on the side of the road with car trouble. I’m a reader, a writer, and a bit of a crazy person.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Cambria Hebert
(BearPaw Resort, #3)
Publication date: August 3rd 2018
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense, Thriller

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

What if we lose everything?
It was a question that had haunted me even after I spoke it aloud.
Turns out one loss—one profound loss—is enough to put everything else at stake.
What a house of cards life can be. How easily everything ices over.
We’ve survived an avalanche, made it through a blizzard, but now a chill has set in. A cold so deep it reaches beyond bone.
The end of the storm provided a new beginning, but we can’t start over while we’re still frozen in the past.
How can I face a man who’s lost so much because of me? How can he face me?
This powerful secret between us grows with every breath I take. Will it pull us closer or sever a bond I once thought unbreakable?
The threat to my life is gone. Yet I’m still terrified.
Cold has laid claim to Liam. Whenever we touch, the bite of frost nips at my heart.
His obsession for revenge grows, hurling him further from me and closer to the frostbite taking over.

The Blue Line Duet review

Meghan Quinn’s latest release The Blue Line Duet is a completely different perspective of love.

It’s difficult writing a review without any spoilers so the first couple paragraphs are gonna be a short description with links attached to the cover reveal of both books.

Review:

Five 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

The Upside of Falling (The Blue Line Duet #1) shows love as an instant connection. It’s fast and intense with the perfect touch of drama.

The Downside of Love (The Blue Line Duet #2) shows a more grown up love, a mature one. It represents a love that could last a lifetime.

Spoiler Review

There are three main characters:

Rory: female character, outgoing, positive, charming, strong with a very real perspective of her plans in life.

Colby: male character, closed off, quiet and very focused. His dreams are clear and he’s completely focus on making them a reality.

Stryder: male character, funny, extrovert but with a dark side that pulls him down and prevents him from becoming who he desires to be.

The first book, The Upside of Falling, tells the love story of Colby and Rory. They connect since the first moment they look at each other. At first, Colby wants nothing to do with Rory but her perseverance gets through him. They exchange letters and it’s so lovely 😍. However, there’s not a happy ending for them. Colby’s dream of becoming a fighter pilot gets in the way, and although he thinks of leaving that behind because her, Rory doesn’t let him, knowing making his dream come true is more important and if he denied that he’d regret it later.

The second book (The Downside of Love) is the love story of Stryder and Colby. Stryder and Colby are best friends, they’ve been together since first day of Air Force Academy. However, Stryder didn’t make it so he couldn’t become a fighter pilot. That puts him in a bad position, drinking problems, solitude, distancing himself from everybody, Colby above all of them. Rory and Ryan (Rory’s best friend) found Stryder and help him, letting him sleep at their houses commuting. Rory and Stryder start to develop a friendship, even though Stryder has always been in love with Rory she starts feeling something when she gets to know him. It’s a love develop through good and bad times. And when Colby knows about their relationship, OMG, new side of him completely different. However, Rory and Stryder get a happy ending. You can see a more mature love but also a friendship.

Also, we’re getting a third instalment The Left Side of Perfect. After finishing this duet you’ll be left in love but also heartbreaking. Everybody deserves a happy ending. So Colby you’re next 😉.

Through both books I was hooked from the beginning. The first one was a more classical romance book, but the second one was a complete puzzle that I had to build. Always wondering how it would end. So worth reading.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

The Downside of Love is Live

The second instalment in the Blue Line Duet is live right now.

I finished The Upside of Falling last night and I started The Downside of Love this morning. The first book was 🙈 I couldn’t wait to read the second one. Thank Meghan Quinn for releasing this book earlier. She has become one of my favourite authors.

This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved.

This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would.

This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself.

No, this is my story.

A story about sacrifice.

A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl.

A story I wish I never had to tell.

This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

Blizzard by Cambria Hebert

The second book in the BearPaw Resort series by Cambria Hebert is live. After the ending of Avalanche there are things to be resolved between Bellamy and Liam, see what happens in this second instalment. (I can’t wait to read it)

Blizzard
Cambria Hebert
(BearPaw Resort #2)
Publication date: June 15th 2018
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense, Thriller

An arctic blast is coming…

Fleeing to the wintry town of Caribou was always meant to be temporary,
BearPaw Resort just a place to hide.
Never in a million years did I expect that running back to the past
would bring me face to face with my future.
But it did, and now everyone I love is in danger.
I’ve already escaped death three times, and I know my luck is running out.
I’m left looking over my shoulder, watching and waiting,
knowing they’re coming
But when?
Hiding is impossible when the mob wants you erased,
and I love Liam far too much to try to disappear.
The more time I spend with him, the more I realize how much he needs me.
A darkness lurks inside him, and the colder it gets, the more I see it in his eyes.
So here I am, more afraid than ever before.
Giving up isn’t an option. Giving in will get us killed.
A blizzard is brewing on our mountain,
more frigid than anything we’ve ever felt.
With everything we ever wanted at stake, the only option is to fight.

When life turns arctic…
Who will survive the blast?

EXCERPT:

“You might not know all the details of my career, all the places I’ve traveled, or even what I’ve been hoping for in the future. But what you do know is far more important than any of that.”

“And what is it I know?” she asked dubiously.

Lifting her hand, I pressed her palm against my chest. Her fingers were cool compared to my skin. Her hand was small compared to mine when I covered hers completely, pressing it flat over my heart. “You know places inside my heart no one else has ever encountered. You know how hard it is to breathe when we look into each other’s eyes. And I’m betting you feel a gentle tug right about here”—I poked my finger into the center of her chest—“when I walk into a room.”

Her eyes scoured mine. “You feel that, too?”

“Ah, sweetheart, I definitely feel it, too.”

Our foreheads met, and we both smiled.

Too soon, Bells pulled back, her brow knitting. “It doesn’t make sense that I could love you so very much and not know the details.”

“You think knowing my favorite color or the state of my teeth means you love me more?”

“Your favorite color is blue,” she said, mildly affronted.

“‘Cause that’s the color of your eyes.” I kissed the tip of her nose.

“I want the details, Liam. I want everything about you.”

“You already have the most important parts, Bells.”

A stubborn glint came into her eyes, and I chuckled. “If everything is what you want, then everything is what you’ll get.”
