#FATE
Cambria Hebert
(GearShark, #6)
Publication date: November 4th 2019
Genres: M/M, Contemporary, Romance

What’s meant to be will always find a way.

Perfection isn’t an illusion.
I met it, held it in my hands.
But then it slipped right through.

Perfection isn’t an illusion.
It’s elusive, cleverly evasive, and, in many ways, a horrible tease.

I’m not a man to be toyed with.
Quiet, thoughtful, and even sometimes careful,
but never someone to taunt.
Even the most controlled men have a breaking point.
I just met mine.

Why mess with perfection?
You don’t.
Unless perfection messes with you.

When Ella Jones’ twenty-first birthday ends with a bang – literally – she never imagined it would be with her best friend since freshman year, Ryan Owen.

A year later, after their so called “mistake”, they’re still best friends and about to rock their Senior year at the University of San Francisco. The trouble is, Ryan has a girlfriend of his own, and Ella and Ryan swore they would never cross that line again – until they do.

They try not to let their second slip up affect their friendship, but when Spring Break forces them to vacation under the same roof; and Ryan’s ex walks back into his life, Ella is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ella continues to see Liam, Ryan finds himself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. And maybe, deep down, they want to.

Romance, pure romance. Love is in the air, but you can’t see air you just can feel it.

Ella and Ryan are bff but one night changes all. They start to discover different feelings that goes farther ahead than a mere friendship. Both confront the situation differently, fighting romantic feelings. The development both characters make through the book is what attracted me in the book. I liked that you can see how both of them affront the same situations so differently, like jealousy. Side characters were good, adding different plot twists.

This is a great friends to lovers story, it’s well written and fast-paced. Highly recommend it for a relaxing weekend. There’s nothing more to add. Just go read it.

Review:

3,75 🌟 (almost four)

Secrets in our Scars is a good book, her author is more than good. I like her writing style, the way she describes feelings and stories. However the plot wasn’t one I usually read. I got over that phase a couple years ago and reading about it was like, damn it’s good but not what I expected.

Let me explain:

Daisy: Typical young girl, innocent, inexperienced, introvert. Trauma from past experiences (even her name designates delicacy). She’s not wrong, I’m a feminist and I accept every kind of woman and people, even though I prefer reading about a more determined woman that doesn’t need a man to become something or to grow up. I’m not trying to devaluaste men, they can help us grow but they can’t be the principal factor that has to be form our inside ( and that goes for everybody).

Roy: Rich man, bulky, dark past, powerful. (Nothing more to add). He was enjoyable, I liked him.

The story is well developed and well written but the characters weren’t too attractive for me, I’m tired of this stereotypes. In general is a good story. Both characters have chemistry and it gains momentum during the whole book. Also, there is not one midterm but two or three and that’s intriguing and makes you want to keep reading.

There’s drama and I love a good drama, my biggest problem was female character personality or way of acting and how she seem weaker than how she probably is.

Side characters are good. FC’s best friend adds the touch of humor needed. The aunts are so motherly, except for the fast trust in a stranger that’s showing a special interest in their nephew. You have MC’s people, especially Proctor, a surprising addition.

Ps.: Sorry for putting all my feminist thoughts in here, I’m no one to say how people has to be or act or whatever.

Overall, it’s a good book. I recommend it. From time to time we have to get out of our comfort zone.

Author Bio:

Rebecca Trogner started writing her first novel after watching True Blood. Of course it was about vampires and thus The Last Keepers Daughter was born. The next, The Last Guardian Rises, continued the series. Her latest book, Secrets In Our Scars, is a contemporary romance and a lot spicier. She’s working on her fourth book with the help of her rescued animal pets.

Surviving Adam Meade by Shannon Klare Review

Surviving Adam Meade

(Surviving Adam Meade, #1)
Published by: Swoon Reads
Publication date: August 14th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Seventeen-year-old Claire Collins has a plan: get into college and leave North Carolina behind. What she doesn’t have is an idea for how to get rid of the local football star and womanizer extraordinaire—Adam Meade, who she can’t even avoid (despite many efforts), because Claire’s dad is the high school football coach.

Seventeen-year-old Adam Meade never fails. He always gets what he wants… until he meets Claire, the new girl who leaves him unnerved, pissed off, and confused. But there’s something about her that he just can’t resist…

With the bite of lemon meringue pie and the sugar of sweet tea, Surviving Adam Meade is a sexy and compelling young adult novel about two strong-willed people who think they know what they want but have no idea what they need.

Review

4 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Surviving Adam Meade is an enemies to lovers story. Claire is forced to change high schools her senior year, starting in a new school leaving behind her entire life. Also, she’s coach’s daughter what leads her to meet Adam. Quarterback, heartbreaker and a bit of an asshole.

Their chemistry is clear, they both prank and attack verbally each other (the use of sarcasm is so good, I loved it). They realised they like each other but are afraid of their future together.

The first part of the book, all the banter and bickering is, for me, the best part of the book. Although it loses its force when they start dating. I expected it to be more passionate. Also, the jumps between scenes inside chapters are to fast. One paragraph you have Claire in class and the next she’s at home, without making a big separation between them. It was weird for me while reading.

Overall, I truly liked it. Both main characters are funny and sort of real-life related. Perfect read for summer.

Review

3.75 🌟 🌟 🌟 💫

How To Breathe Underwater tells the story of Kate. It starts with a boom, her father is cheating on her mother and she finds out in the middle of a swimming practice. Her life changes drastically, she has to move to a different city and start again. That’s when she meets Michael, her neighbor and they develop a friendship.

Kate has mixed feelings about everything that’s happening, thinking about every decision she has made. She’s learning to be herself and that’s very authentic and I like when characters are realistic.

The chemistry is easy and fast between Michael and her, they connect like they’ve known each other their whole lives.

The book in itself is good, I’d consider it a fall reading, so perfect for the months ahead, but the drama was easy to spot since the beginning (for myself). I saw what was going to happen when I read the first chapters so later when it happened I wasn’t very surprised. However, you read about a teenager growing up faster than she should be and making mistakes.

I recommend it for those who like to read young adult and romance.

Shopping for a CEO’s wife book blitz

Shopping for a CEO’s Wife
Julia Kent
(Shopping for a Billionaire, #12)
Publication date: April 25th 2017
Genres: Adult, Romance

Snowbound. Sounds so romantic, with visions of cuddling before a roaring fire, hot chocolate spiked with brandy, and a secret elopement.

Wait. What?

My fiancé’s father won’t stop trying to turn our pending wedding into a three-ring media circus so he can get free publicity for his family’s Fortune 500 company. My mother has decided she’s done with All Things Wedding and asks her teacup Chihuahua for mother-of-the-bride advice.

They’ve all gone certifiably mad.

Then the stress from the wedding puts my mother in the hospital, I scream at my future father-in-law in front of a camera crew and the video goes viral, and the romantic wedding that started with Andrew’s grand Pride and Prejudice proposal looks less like Jane Austen and more like Dostoyevsky.

So what do you do when you’re a fixer and you can’t fix something?

You give up on it.

Not on Andrew, silly.

The wedding.

Shopping for a CEO’s Wife is the 12th book in Julia Kent’s New York Times bestselling Shopping series. As Shannon and Declan enjoy their newlywed bliss, Andrew’s father wants to exploit Amanda and Andrew’s nuptials, much to Amanda’s chagrin. Can she learn to stand up to her future father-in-law and fight for what’s right? But the real question is: will Spritzy the teacup Chihuahua end up being a flower girl?

EXCERPT:

Experiencing a season together for the first time when you’re in a new relationship is a rite of passage. For instance, my idea of a fun winter activity involves reading under a thick, fuzzy blanket, snuggling up to a roaring fire, and drinking hot chocolate.

Andrew, on the other hand, likes to race down a snow-covered mountain at speeds that would qualify him for the Indy 500.

Guess where we are now?

“I am not going down that double black diamond trail. No way,” I declare, staring at an incline of doom on this mountaintop in Vermont. As I stare down the slope, I wonder what kind of sick bastard planted thirty-foot giant pine trees in the middle of a ski trail.

The sun is shining on this fine Saturday in December. You can’t see my engagement ring, which is hidden by gloves so thick, I might as well box instead of ski. Warming packets tucked away in pockets near the wrists aren’t really helping, because in my terror, all the blood in my body has gone to my gut, which is currently screaming “Run away! Run away!” while leaving my hands and feet to turn into frozen concrete.

Andrew’s response?

A grin.

Her Claim Book Review

Book details:

Her Claim

by Rebecca Grace Allen

(Legally Bound, #2)

Publication date: April 23rd 2018

Genres: Erotica, Romance

Synopsis:

She’s no princess. He’s no prince. Then again, they never wanted a fairy tale.

Legally Bound, Book 2

Cassie Allbright takes no prisoners. A half Cuban ball-busting attorney, she’s too tough to admit what she wants in bed. But tough is the only way to cut it in her high-powered firm, and Cassie doesn’t need a knight in shining armor. And she definitely doesn’t need Patrick Dunham—an arrogant, chauvinistic man-whore with a knack for pissing her off.

Bound to the helm of his family’s publishing house, Patrick is shackled to a life of power and wealth he never wanted. Seduction is his only distraction—his nights of pleasure always temporary, because happily-ever-afters are not for him. But while luring a woman into his bed has always come easy, the high-and-mighty Cassie has never succumbed to his charms.

Their verbal sparring turns to foreplay, but instead of scratching an itch, it only whets their appetites. Patrick gives Cassie a taste of what she’s secretly craved, and Cassie’s dark desires stir up things Patrick never knew he wanted. Enchanted, he offers to fulfill her most dangerous fantasies. She agrees, with an iron-clad escape clause: her heart is off-limits, and so is his.

Funny thing about hearts, though. They have a way of ignoring the fine print.

Warning: This book isn’t for the faint of heart. Disclosure includes angry, vying-for-control hate sex and one steamy weekend in Miami. Ready? Break the caution tape and proceed.

Review:

3,5 stars 🌟🌟🌟💫

Sexy, matute, funny. Her Claim is the second book in the Legally Bound series. So if you’ve read the first one (His Contract) this is a must read.

I jump straight to this one and in general I liked it. The worst problem for me was that I am Spanish and the parts that were written in my language weren’t totally correct.

Overall, it’s a very good book worth reading.

The female character (Cassie) has devoted her life to her career, but because it was what she wanted, she choose that path. She is ready to find someone to be with, and that I loved it. It shows that you can fight for a career, to be the best at what you love and that when the time comes you get to choose who you want to be with.

Patrick, the male lead is sexy, womaniser and intelligent, you see from their first encounter that he’s the best partner for Cassie, but their relationship is not the best. He will stole your heart.

One of the things I liked the most is the fact that they’re both grown adults with experience in life, they know what they’re doing. I’m used to see young people in romance books and this was a freshener.

And sorry to say this again but Cassie is worth reading, even if she seemed too headstrong at times, how she has fought against all the difficulties that has come along her way (her family, her ascentry, being a woman in a men’s world, etc.) it was my first motivation through the first chapters, the it was the evident and palpable connection between the main characters, so good and hot and sexy and smart and real…

Also, you get a sneak peak into Jack and Lilly’s (from His contract #1)

Go read it NOW.
